We were very happy with the service provided by Russells Funeral Directors in Bangor (as part of the Dignity group) following the death of my Father on 10 April 2019. Everything was handled both professionally and sensitively by the staff, which included Jonathan, Gillian and Valerie. Things were explained to us clearly, and my Mother's wishes were respected throughout. As well as this, when Russells advised that certain things would happen by a certain time, all of these commitments were met and we were kept advised along the way. We would wholeheartedly recommend the service provided by Russells to others.
Thank you for taking the time to send us your online review. Your feedback is always valuable to us. I am pleased to hear that you found our staff to be professional and respectful and that all of your wishes and requirements were carried out by the team as you had requested.

Both of my second cousin(whom I held dear as my aunts) were taken ti
o t
your funeral home and onto burial from there. They were both sisters. Whilst my first cousin to pass had been very ill and lost a lot of weight I had seen her in hospital not too long before she passed. However when it came to viewing her body in the coffin,I was horrified with what I saw. With respect, her appearance was that of someone who had been dead for quite some time and had been mummified. She was barely recognizable to me. Her elder sister came away the same day in tears and they were not just due to her terrible loss. A younger cousin of mine who had accompanied this elderly lady in viewing her sister actually pre-warned me of the state in which my deceased cousin was in. Six years later the second sister passed. This lady had been in a care home for a time and whilst she had been suffering from dementia, she was a much heavier and fuller figured lady than her sister. When I came back to Russells to view her body it was a case of history repeating itself. She had shrunk in body mass and again bore the facial features of a mummified corpse. These images have haunted me for years. I do not comprehend how one funeral directors embalmer can differ so dramatically to that of another. My father, for example, passed 10 years ago. His passing was unpleasant and on his hospital death-bed you could see the pain he had been suffering before the end. He did not look good or peaceful. However,I used my immediate familys Funeral Home and was gratefully relieved when I went alone to see his body and found a peaceful, healthy looking dad who had the appearance of his being asleep. Dignity in death is vital for the deceased and the surviving loved ones. So what is wrong with your embalmer? Jay Duvall
